I Have Dreamed was Doris’s first project for 1961. The sessions for this dreamy LP took place on the 2, 3 and 5 May. As with many of Doris’s albums she completed her vocals after only around 10 hours in the studio. [It was also at this time that Doris notably recorded “Let No Walls Divide” which was an exclusive festive track for the star-studded Columbia compilation We Wish You The Merriest.]

I would be the first to vouch that anything by Doris Day is worth investigating. On saying that this album just fails to grip my senses. I can only conclude that the slightly over-orchestrated backing perhaps overkills what are very simple ballads. My vote however goes to Doris for her version of Noel Coward’s “Someday I’ll Find You” which is delicious!
