Young actress Melinda Howard has just returned
to New York from touring in England. She decides to surprise her
mother who she thinks is a successful Broadway star with a mansion
in Manhattan. In reality though life is not so rosy for her
mother who is a burnt-out cabaret singer with an excessive love for
whisky.
During her visit Melinda becomes
involved with a famous dancer/singer (Farnham) who falls in love with her and
an aging, married
millionaire (Hubbell) whose friendship leads to zany complications with his wife.
