The Show Time LP was Dorisís first studio album of the 1960s. She began working on it after recording a series of novelty singles in January 1960 (this included the title-tune to her upcoming picture Please Donít Eat The Daisies). The sessions for the album ran between 11-25 February, with exception of the Grammy nominated song ďThe Sound Of MusicĒ which had been cut in November 1959 with Frank DeVol.

Show Time offers a bumper crop of the brightest tunes from the greatest of musicals. Doris tackles each of the acclaimed stage anthems with such conviction that you soon forget she didnít sing the originals. She also gives a gutsy performance of the specially written title-song.

Conductor Alex Stordahl, renowned for his work with with Frank Sinatra, provides some beautiful orchestral arrangements. This was the first complete album he has worked on for Doris since he conducted part of her Tea for Two album. Photographer Bob Willoughby comes up trumps with the cover shot!
