Oscar nominated American actor James Garner — star of 1970s TV series 'The Rockford Files' and countless other Hollywood movies — has died aged 86.
Garner was famous for playing Bret Maverick in the 1957 western TV series as well as the 1994 film version. He also starred in 'The Great Escape' in 1963, 'Murphy’s Romance' in 1985, and 'Space Cowboys' in 2000. Doris Day fans will of course best remember Garner for playing Day’s on-screen husband in 1960s Romantic comedies 'The Thrill Of It All' and 'Move Over Darling'.
The New York Post report that the star was found dead of natural causes at his home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles on the evening of 19 July 2014.
