Doris considers this album to be one of her all-time favourite releases from her years at Columbia Records. You’ll Never Walk Alone was recorded between the 11-13 July 1962. It blended a mixture of secular and religious songs that each held a special place in the singer’s heart. The album when released was not a big-seller but its theme guaranteed it niche appeal and ensured it a unique place in Doris’s vast catalogue of song. Although some of the album cuts are slightly marred by an imposing organ these are balanced by delicate, heartfelt arrangements of “If I Can Help Somebody”, “Scarlet Ribbons” and the title song which will each bring a tear to your eye.
